W.O.A International signs Swedish punk rock artist Monica & the Explosion

The W.O.A Booking Agency brings Swedish punk rock to India

Goa, India – 20^th Sep, 2009 – The booking agency roster of W.O.A International is growing rapidly with International artists worldwide signing on to break into the Indian market that is opening up to Independent music and one of the latest signings by W.O.A International is Monica & the Explosion from Sweden, a one woman band that plays hard core punk rock all on an acoustic guitar.

"Punk rock is a genre that is coming back in a big way in Europe and W.O.A International has several high profile punk rockers signed to our management and record label roster, Monica is now the new addition joining our artists from this genre" says W.O.A President/Founder and International Rocker Oliver Sean. "Monica is scheduled to be in Goa on the 31^st of October to do a special performance at the W.O.A International Music Festival"

"Monica and The Explosion started as a solo project in May, 2005 when I left my old band 'Lots of Pilots'" says Singer/Performer Monica "my music has been described as unrestrained punk rock with a lot of energy"

The unique thing about a girl playing action-packed punk rock on acoustic guitar has aroused many people's interest, and since the start Monica and The Explosion has played diligently all around Sweden, Europe, Australia and the U.S. In May, 2007, Monica and The Explosion released the debut single and video Hollywood.

Monica and The Explosion also represented Sweden at World Championships of Performing Arts 2008 in Hollywood U.S. and recieved two silver medals as a solo rock artist with self accompaniment.

W.O.A International Artist Sparkey wins at the Underground Music Awards

September 2, 2009 – His first nomination at the Underground Music Awards, Guyanese artist Michael  Sparkey  Drakes was honored with the award for Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist of 2009.  Sparkey has been working hard to get recognition for his music.   This versatile artist moves easily between the Caribbean genres of reggae, dancehall and soca, his voice and blend of the genres is unmistakable.   

For Sparkey, both of these awards come at a critical time in his career, to be named as one of the "20 Best Independent Artist of 2009" by Internet Radio Magazine, is a great accomplishment for this Caribbean artist. 

These awards cap a two year marketing endeavor, that saw the artist sign with WOA International in India, and win "Best International World Male Artist" and Best International World CD Album" for the release of his first solo CD, "Sparkey & Friends Back 2 Basics" out now on W.O.A Records, a combination of reggae, dancehall and soca.
